This page contains all the information useful for a new employee and contains the content needed for efficient work. The site may contain errors due to technical changes in the department. In this kind of situation, I would ask you to notify this to administrator. Any employee can participate in the creation of this site. Just ask administrator to make account for you and document your own solutions.
Making files safe
RAID array is backed up every night.
It is important to hold only essential files in our home directories, because the backup server has limited storage space.
Storing calculation results, temporary files
If you need more space for files, use a /scratch folder (network resource from tux2 server) or /scratch_local

If you are a guest of our department use IFJ Guest Network.
The password changes once per month, so please ask J. Mosurek(room 4201) for the password.
Employees at our department should use IFJ network.
In order to connect to the IFJ network you have to register your device at the following webpage(DSK website works only on IFJ_Guest and IFJ network).
Your password should be the same as your first password set to access the webmail server. Please send an e-mail to admin at ifj.edu.pl if you don't remember your password.
In our department we have a subscription to the Mathematica 12 program. Every of our employees have an access to use it. In order to start using it, contact with administrator to install it on your computer or laptop.
Q: I am new employee. How can I get access to services available on department?
A: Most of services are manage by our IT section DSK website
Other services like printing, SSH server, program licenses, repositories, backups or common PC problems are manage by our administrator
Q: Which wifi network should I use?
A: There are 3 wireless networks available at our department.
Q: What is kasztan and what am I suposed to do with it?
A: kasztan is our SSH server for employees. Feel free to store your files there and print your documents. To get access, contact with administrator.
Q: Where can I print my papers?
